Roger Christian is an Academy Award®-winning set decorator, art director, production designer, and film director, best known for his work on Star Wars: A New Hope, where he won the Oscar for Best Art Direction (Set Decoration) as part of the film’s art department team. His contributions helped establish the iconic “lived-in” visual style that became a defining characteristic of the Star Wars universe.
He has also worked as an art director on major films including Alien and Monty Python’s Life of Brian, bringing a strong focus on practical design and atmospheric world-building to some of the most influential genre films ever made. Roger later moved into directing, with feature credits including The Sender, Nostradamus, and Battlefield Earth.
